He is concerned that, as Christian teachers, the impact of a teacher's life on students be viewed as an eternal matter. Consequently, in terms of the Scriptures such as Matthew 7:28-29, Mark 1:22, 2 Corinthians 3: 1-6, Ephesians 4:11-16, and James 3:1, Robert focuses his work and study on helping Christian teachers become the teachers that God wants them to be.

Robert actively involves himself in numerous professional development activities in Queensland Education as well as lecturing in California (USA), London (UK), Republique de Guinee (West Africa), Hong Kong and Malaysia.

Robert's Master of Social Science dissertation focused on: The Geography of Unemployment of a Brisbane Suburb, completed through the Geography Department of the Social Sciences Faculty, University of Queensland, St Lucia, Brisbane.

Ph.D. thesis is titled: Conceptions of Thinking Legally: an interpretative approach completed through the University of New England, Armidale, NSW
