Why did you choose CHC?

CHC seemed the obvious choice for me. I had completed a Bachelor of Business Management at a secular university before deciding on teaching as a career, and knew I wanted to work in the Christian school system. CHC offered excellent practical experiences in Christian schools as well as the opportunity to grow in faith and learn from Christian lecturers who are passionate about teaching. The lecturers were highly skilled professionals who were dedicated to encouraging students. My worldview was reshaped and I am a much stronger person in Christ now.

Has CHC been beneficial to your career?

Absolutely! As a new graduate I was able to find employment following my practical placement. My education at CHC thoroughly prepared me for the role of a classroom teacher.

Tell us about your family…

I have been very happily married to Brenton for 7 years and have been blessed with a little boy, Sam (an energetic 2 ½ -year-old), and daughter Lucy (a more content and still immobile 8-month-old).

Where are you working now?

Some days in the laundry and kitchen and singing along to Sesame Street tunes. Other days provide different challenges as a relief teacher! I am still trying to find the right family/work balance; I have missed full-time teaching since resigning to have Sam, but presently enjoy contracts and relief work. My teaching qualifications have also enabled me to do work from home writing training manuals for university undergraduates. In my spare time I am squeezing in a bit of study for my Masters, but that really is a squeeze at the moment!
