Governance
Christian Heritage College was established by Christian Outreach Centre and accepted its first students in 1986. In 2003, the College was separately incorporated as a public company limited by guarantee and, in 2005, was recognised by the Commonwealth Government as a Higher Education Provider.
Under the Constitution of Christian Heritage College, the governance of the College is vested in its Board of Directors, the Christian Heritage College Council. Membership of the Council includes representatives of Christian Outreach Centre as the College's parent body, the College's Academic Board, College staff, graduates, employers of graduates, professions served by the College, and the wider community. The College Council currently has 12 members a majority of whom are external to the College.
The Council has adopted an organisational structure which includes both academic and administrative organisational units. In the College's academic structure, academic governance rests with the Academic Board, a standing committee appointed by the Council, while immediate oversight of academic programs is the responsibility of the College's academic organisational units, termed Schools. The Academic Board has wide-ranging responsibility for advice to the Council on academic matters, and for the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the College's academic programs, policies and processes.
The main internal committee responsible for day to day management of the College is the Committee of Management. The Committee of Management's formal roles include oversight of planning and quality processes including strategic and operation planning and review, quality assurance, implementing the vision of the College in all aspects of academic and administration policy development and approval, and internal coordination.
