Belinda Norman
Belinda started her working career as a flight attendant almost 30 years ago, which sparked her love of people, cultures and travel, three things that still remain close to her heart. After travelling the world for many years, she "settled down" and discovered a passion for learning and studying. She completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in psychology and linguistics, and then went into the field of counselling.
During this time Belinda married and had three beautiful children, which so far has been the highlight of her life. Sadly in 2008, Belinda experienced the loss of her 4th child, a daughter, who was stillborn. It was this experience that sent her on a different trajectory and discovering a new found passion for nursing and midwifery. Belinda worked for 7 years as the Perinatal Loss coordinator at the Mater Mothers hospital, caring for and supporting families who had also experienced the devastating loss of a child or children. She has spent many years counselling and supporting families through their grief and loss.
Belinda has recently stepped away from this role and has devoted herself to her private counselling practice. She also works part time at the Gateway Counselling and Wholeness centre at Mackenzie and Victoria Point.
As well as this, Belinda has completed a Graduate Certificate in supervision (pastoral and clinical), and loves to support other counsellors and clergy in their roles.
When not working or studying Belinda can be found walking her dog anywhere where there is water, hiking, eating out with friends or covered in dust attempting to renovate furniture. Belinda has been a committed Christian for over 30 years and is humbled by the opportunities to counsel and teach others.

David Stone
Welcome! For those who would like to know, here’s a little introduction. I’m a husband and Dad. I love Jesus, my family, and the church. I grew up in a loving Christian home and served in ministry from a young age. In time, I found my personal passion to reveal the love and knowledge of God through the visual and creative art—essentially visual theology. This clarified to become, what I consider to be, the practice of illumination, with my personal expression of this being the cinematic mediums of film and animation. And that serves as my segue into my likes and dislikes.
Likes: Film/animation, digital media, theology and western philosophy, culture and politics, illustration, music, video and board games, longboarding, chilli and dogs (separately, but also including chilli dogs).
Dislikes: Traffic, pineapple on pizza, mouth-open chewing, YouTube Ads that come right before cliffhangers, finding unexpected gum under desks (please don’t do it class).

Gillian Cheyne
I have 25 years experience in People and Culture, HR, Employee Relations, Strategic Leadership and Management, International Development, Workplace Training and missional engagement in the corporate and NFP sectors.
This, with over 40 years of ministry experience in the UK, Canada and Australia; which includes serving with Christian organisations in developing countries - PNG, India, Uganda, Kenya, Fiji, Thailand.
My husband and I enjoy doing life with our precious son, daughter in law and grandchildren, missional ministry, and spending time with life-giving friends. Also motorcycling since we were teens, international travel, entertaining at home, long beach walks, and we continue to live life with passion and purpose.
Personal Testimony
Growing up in a Christian family, as a child I asked Jesus into my heart every week at the local children’s mission. I was 12 yrs old when I had a defining encounter with Jesus and realised the importance of fully committing my life to serve the Lord – and I did.
What an extraordinary life journey from then to now. God has been so faithful. His goodness has pursued me every day of my life. I have learnt over the years that He wants to do the impossible in our lives and leave us amazed saying, “that was God!”
One of my favourite quotes is from Christine Caine, “Life is too short, the world is too big and God’s Love too great to live ordinary.” So, let’s do it for Christ and for those who are yet to know His Love.
Qualifications
My educational background includes a Doctor of Professional Studies, USQ; Master of Business Administration, USQ; Graduate Diploma in Management, USQ; Graduate Certificate Workplace Relations, WSU; Certificate in Alternate Dispute Resolution, UWO (University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada), and a Certificate in Ministry from Commonwealth Bible College (now Alphacrucius University College).

Johanna Lynch
Dr Johanna Lynch is a retired GP who has devoted her career to understanding and caring for those whose distress is often ignored or minimised in our community. She now works consulting to national projects on domestic violence, child sexual abuse and sexual assault, as well as researching ways to assess distress that do not miss violation, neglect, and injustice. She also offers individual and group supervision to multidisciplinary clinicians who want to learn how to offer strengths-based, trauma-informed whole person care.
Johanna's clinical work included working as a GP in the Brisbane Bayside for ten years followed by 15 years working as a GP psychotherapist caring for adult survivors of neglect and trauma who had often received multiple mental health and physical diagnoses without anyone listening to their life stories. During those years she pioneered the establishment of the first transdisciplinary trauma clinic in Australia - named Integrate Place (2009-2013) This practical clinical work of being with those in our community who are often marginalised, misunderstood, and categorised with multiple mental health diagnoses has led her to search for approaches to the whole person that are applicable across disciplines. She has pioneered approaches that actively work against the fragmentation caused by trauma and neglect.
Johanna also teaches medical students and works as a clinical academic as Senior Lecturer with The University of Queensland's General Practice Clinical Unit. She is a clinical advisor to a domestic and family violence program with Brisbane South PHN and to Blue Knot Foundation, is on the ALIVE National Centre for Mental Health Research Intersectoral policy committee, and is president of the Australian Society for Psychological Medicine that educates supports and champions GPs and allied health providers who offer complex whole person care. Besides being a sessional lecturer at CHC, I am also an individual and couples counsellor and clinical supervisor in private practice on the northside of Brisbane and have currently accrued over 3500 counselling hours experience. I previously worked at a Private Residential Rehab called The Banyans as a counsellor and professional supervisor for their wellness coaches. Before my counselling studies I worked as a Family Support Worker with the Salvation Army in residential care for homeless women and children.
I am passionate about God, about people and about relationships and love to be part of seeing others become empowered and to grow and change to be all who God created them to be. I have been married to my husband Gordon for over 40 years and we have 8 grown children and 21 gorgeous grandchildren ranging in age from 18 years down to 3 months old, and I adore each one of them! We have been empty nesters for a few years now and are enjoying this new season of our life and love our big crazy family get togethers. We also have a gorgeous golden spaniel called Macey who is thoroughly spoilt!
I love spending quality time with family and friends, being in nature, whether it’s walking through the surf at the beach or going for a rainforest walk or a bike ride along the waterfront at Redcliffe. I also love reading and continuing to learn and grow personally.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t believe in God but as a child I was brought up with a lot of legalism so didn’t get to know God’s love and grace until I was in my early twenties and it was then my husband and I were baptised. As the years have gone on, my love for God continues to grow and I love to spend time with Him whether in worship, reading His Word, being in Creation or fellowshipping at church.

I am a counsellor in private practice, having moved from Sydney to Brisbane in 2019. In Sydney, I was a full-time academic, as well as managing a small counselling practice.
My undergrad is in Primary Teaching to which I have added Certificates in Counselling, Couple Counselling and Art Therapy as well as a Masters and a PhD in counselling where I researched the impact of trauma on serving missionaries. I have extensive industry experience having worked with children, adolescents, adults, and couples in private practice. I have also worked as a school counsellor and in agencies. I love to work with expressive therapies, and am psychodynamically and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy trained. Currently, I serve on the National Council of the Christian Counsellor’s Association of Australia where I hold the Ethics and Training chairs. I am also on the PACFA Professional Conduct Panel.
I have 5 grandchildren all under the age of 10. That means I love to play with LEGO and hang out in parks and anywhere near water. Over the years I have served in many church-based ministries, however, I have a particular interest in mission, especially involving trafficked children and child soldiers.
Personal Testimony:
Jesus invited me to follow Him when I was 16. I have had the privilege of serving in all kinds of church based ministries over the years and more recently have been involved in trafficking and child soldier work in Asia.

Staff Credentials
I am a sessional lecturer at CHC, and I will be teaching the CO553 Domestic and Family Violence Counselling unit online. In addition to this role, I am currently working as a men’s domestic violence counsellor and group facilitator in Queensland and Victoria.
My education background consists of a Bachelor of Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland, a Bachelor of Counselling at the Southern Cross University, and a Master of Counselling (here at CHC), I have post-graduate certificates in Neuropsychotherapy, Gestalt Therapy and Expressive Therapies.
Bio and Personal Info/Interests
Over the last 20 years, I have worked in direct practice with children and families in domestic violence/ sexual assault and men’s domestic violence change behaviour programs. I am a passionate and experienced trainer and group facilitator. I have delivered domestic and family violence (DFV) legislative and educational programs to various organisations across the Sunshine Coast, QLD. The executive producer of the ‘Men Choosing Change’ DFV movie for UnitingCare, “Calming the Angry brain” and “Minds Behind Bullying” animations (DFV resources) which I presented at the international Neuropsychotherapy conference in Melbourne. I am passionate about change and aspire to share specialist DFV knowledge - to transform how we address domestic and family violence in our community.
I was originally born in the United Kingdom and moved to Australia when I was 20. A victim-survivor of domestic violence, I was a single mother for many years and had a son who is 28 years old.
Personal Testimony
Growing up in a Christian family, I accepted Christ as my personal Saviour at 10. As a child, I was always an explorer, and in my teenage years, I pulled away from God and my family, taking a job as a children’s nanny in Gibraltar. This led to my desire to explore the world and eventually live in Australia.
Getting caught up in the modelling scene, far from family and friends, I found myself with the wrong crowd and eventually became a victim of domestic violence.
As I turned to God, my journey from then to now was fraught with many obstacles and triumphs, but God’s presence was always with me throughout. As a living testimony, I can honestly say God works all things together for good. Over the last 20 years, I have been honoured to journey with men, women and children impacted
by domestic and family violence. My heart’s desire is to share this knowledge with you so that it may help others as you fulfil God’s purpose in your own lives.

Nathanael Lambert
Nathanael has always had a love for Literature. In High School he would read Robert Louis Stephenson, Edgar Allen Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle in his spare time. He loved his Arts Degree at La Trobe and always wanted life to stop at his first year composite English Literature course, where he studied diverse texts from the canon such as Shakespeare plays, Elizabethan sonnets, Austen novels and Hemingway short stories. He received a First Class Honours at Melbourne University later on, studying George Herbert and 'New Science'. His PhD was on Cervantes's masterpiece Don Quixote on the hunt for features of Aristotelian virtue, in particular prudence and justice.
Previous to coming onboard full time at CHC, Nathanael was a high school teacher who loves teaching QCE Literature as well as a sessional lecturer at CHC.
Nathanael reads copiously and widely out of pure enjoyment.

Christ is the cornerstone of my identity. God made himself known to me at a young age; my life story has been one of pursuing His plan and purpose for my life. The Christian faith is a very rational faith, a real faith; God's character (His image) is expressed in His creation. As your science teacher this semester, I hope that as I share my love science with you, you will discover more about His creation and your purpose within it.

Nick Todd
Nick Todd I’ve been at CHC and the wonderful Ministry College for a number of years now, and I love everything about it. In fact, I’ve been teaching in higher education for over two decades, and my Citipointe work is perhaps my favourite teaching experience.
Nick’s main loves are his faith and teaching, and this is reflected in his various qualifications. Nick considers himself to be a lifelong learner. Previous to CHC, Nick has taught in universities in England, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and in Australia. I’ve been teaching for almost three decades and still love it.
I was born and raised in the UK in a school that was founded in 1432! It had strong Christian values, which gave me a firm foundation in my faith. That was enhanced during some lengthy travels to Latin America and Eastern Europe. I was also fortunate to work for both Compassion and Vision Mundial (World Vision) when I lived in Guatemela. With my wife Kim, we have attended chuches when we worked in Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, and London. In 2005 we were a part of a church plant in Springfield Lakes, and that church is now known as Hillsong Brisbane West. It has been a remarkably exciting journey, and we are looking forward to all that God has in store for us.

I am a sessional lecturer working in the social science department.
My educational background consists of a being a Registered General Nurse and Midwife (retired). I have a Master of Counselling and Certificates in 3 Phased Approach to Trauma and Sandplay Therapies. I have completed courses in: ASIST – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, Emotional Management for Children and Teens with ASD, Certificate in Christian Worldviews, Diploma in Biblical Studies – Vision College. Cert IV Occupational Health and Safety, and I have a Current Advanced First Aid Certificate.
I am also an avid lifelong learner constantly engaged in professional development, and privately in a diverse range of subjects including physical and mental health, natural therapies, through to economic issues.
Bio and Personal Info/Interest:
I began my career in the 1970’s as a nurse and midwife. Then in the early 1980’s I lived in India for a while and taught in a Bible College. I then resumed nursing when I returned home.
After the birth of my first child, I found myself working in the educational sector in a variety of roles including Science Laboratory Technician, WHS Officer, First Aid Officer, Workplace Rehabilitation Officer and since 2009 as a School Counsellor. For more than 10 years I coordinated volunteers (approx. 1100 – 1500 people) at Easterfest (Christian Gospel Music Festival). Then in 2010 and 2011 I was responsible for the resourcing, organisation and management of the entire First Aid Area and Team during Easterfest.
I was born in Toowoomba but have lived in several different cities and rural communities. I live in Toowoomba now, as I love the lifestyle offered by this beautiful city. I have four grown children, four grandchildren and a husband of 39years. I enjoy gardening, walking and reading. The values of walking with the Lord, of hope, safety, respect, social justice, and excellence are important to me.
Personal Testimony:
I grew up in the Lutheran church and had an amazing spiritual encounter with God at the age of fourteen. I was a founding member of Christian Outreach Centre in Toowoomba and I have continued to grow and understand his great love for myself and his entire creation. I enjoy time with some deeply spiritual people that God has placed in my life and, as I work in a Christian College which is rooted in the grace and wisdom of God, I enjoy daily brushes with Christianity across a broad range of theologies. Personally, I find that times of silence and retreat with God refresh me, encourage me, enlighten me and enable me to have a loving, non-judgmental stance towards people.

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist and have been working with survivors of trauma for the past 14 years. I am also the Founder and Director of Bloom Asia - an anti-trafficking organisation that supports survivors of sex-trafficking with trauma therapy, vocational training and employment in SE Asia. I recently handed over the role of CEO to focus on building an integrated, evidence-based psychotherapy program based on 'memory reconsolidation' processes that are specifically nuanced for survivors of sex-trafficking. I have a BA in Psychology, an MA in Trauma Counselling, and see clients at my private psychotherapy practice in Brisbane, Australia and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
I have been married for 35 years and have 2 gorgeous sons 28 and 25 years old, plus one a beautiful new daughter-in-law (I am still getting used to saying that!). Our family lived in Cambodia for ten years whilst establishing Bloom Asia which has given me a deep love for people (and food!) from other cultures. I love sunlight dappling through trees, the sound of babbling water, prayer every night as I drift off to sleep, dark chocolate truffles, snow balanced on pine needles, and picnics of cheese and red wine accompanied by views and a good book.
Many people ask me how can I focus on clients with such intense trauma all the time? I have found that nothing makes me feel more alive than journeying with others as they explore their inner world, and find freedom from their pain, and hope for the abundant life they were created for.
It will be my joy and privilege to walk with you all this semester.

Sara Martin
Welcome to your counselling journey! I'm Sara Martin, and I’m excited to guide you as you embark on this transformative path.
Before stepping into the world of counselling, I spent two decades in business and marketing, working across various industries in both corporate and consulting roles. I found myself counselling people unofficially in whatever role I was in and drawn to a deeper calling. I also ran Christian connect groups and found I was able to facilitate in a way where members ‘unmasked’ and talked about deeper emotional concerns through a spiritual lens.
Based on these experiences I felt called to counselling and to CHC. I completed my Master of Counselling in 2016 and remain deeply connected to CHC both as a past graduate and now as your lecturer.
I run a private practice as an integrative counsellor, working from a bio-social-psycho-spiritual framework. I support individuals, couples, and families (18+) with self-esteem, identity, life transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, and career concerns.
My approach is tailored to each client, drawing from person-centred therapy, CBT (with mindfulness), family systems, strengths-based techniques, and mentoring. I work in a trauma-informed way, prioritising pacing, grounding, and somatic awareness to avoid re-traumatisation. Additionally, I have specialised training in sex-informed therapy, particularly valuable for couples and clients with sexual trauma.
With a strong personal interest in psycho-nutrition, sleep, exercise, mindfulness, and rest, I take a holistic view of mental well-being.
I aim to create an engaging and reflective learning environment where you can explore and develop who you are as a counsellor. I am passionate about helping you discover your unique therapeutic style, develop confidence in your skills, and forge your own path in this incredibly rewarding field. I believe in fostering a space where we can learn from each other, challenge perspectives, and integrate both the art and science of counselling.
I look forward to walking alongside you in this journey of learning, self-discovery, and professional growth!

Staff Credentials
Sri graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Management Information Systems, from the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, Texas, United States. Sri worked part-time at the IT department at the Bauer College while studying and since graduating in 2001, has successfully filled a variety of roles spanning many industries in the United States, Middle East, and Australia, totalling over 25 years of industry experience.

Besides being a member of the CHC team, Sri has been involved at the School of Information Systems at the Queensland University of Technology since 2015. Personal Interests
Sri is a husband to Amanda and father to their three children, Judah, Abigail, and Noelle. After Jesus, Sri's family is most important to him. Sri enjoys working from home because he gets to help his wife around the house and his kids to see him more. Sri enjoys playing basketball (though it doesn't happen all that much these days) and does his best to stay fit and healthy.
Personal Testimony
Sri was born in a Hindu family and was a practicing Hindu, never having the inclination or desire to investigate any other religions because it was not something that Hindus did or were encouraged to do. This changed while Sri was attending the University of Houston. Through life circumstances, there came a point where Sri was searching for peace and despite prayers and poojas to his Hindu gods, it wasn't until he was introduced to Christ that he was able to have peace. This was in 2001 and 20+ years later, Sri continues to pray for his parents, siblings and other family members to turn to Christ and be saved. Sri will be the first to admit that he is far from perfect, but his earnest desire is to be a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and reflect his love for the LORD in his words, thoughts, actions and attitude in all areas of life. Sri is always willing and eager to share more details about his faith journey to those who are curious.

Tim Kelly
Tim Kelly is one of five children, born in Dalby back in the 1960s. He survived primary school well enough, but his secondary school years were an academic disaster—having once been unsure on a science exam about the colour of blood. This failure was compounded over the years, though his success in English and Modern History provided a sliver of hope. He believes that his academic difficulties provided him with compassion for students who struggle with motivation and find themselves a little lost.
After two years spent learning to play guitar, he embarked on a Bachelor of Arts at Griffith University, completing an honours thesis on Rolling Stone magazine. He then began a career as a music journalist while also studying teaching at the University of Queensland. His first teaching position was at Loganlea State High School, where he taught Civics and History.
Arriving at Brisbane State High School in 1995, Tim taught Senior English and Modern History. He later left Education Queensland to work at Redlands College, where he also taught Film and Television. In 2000, he was appointed Head of English at Redeemer Lutheran College, a position he held until 2020. In 2021, he took up a similar role at The Springfield Anglican College, where he is currently working. He teaches Literature, English Extension, and General English. Tim is about to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology at Monash University—an achievement he is particularly delighted with, given his earlier history with science.
Tim is married to the Reverend Kate Littmann-Kelly and has two adult children. He is often accompanied by his English Pointers, Jarvis and Mosely, who work hard to keep him physically healthy. He also plays guitar in a Talking Heads cover band.

Wendy Godfrey
I recently concluded my role as a School Chaplain with Scripture Union QLD. In my role I supporting and empowered the next generation, this is something that has always been of importance to me. I loved my role as "Chappy" where I got not only support children in my school, but also their families, staff members at my school and the broader community of Bribie Island.
In 2022 year I begun the exciting and daunting PhD journey. I was lucky enough to receive a scholarship from the University of the Sunshine Coast. My PhD is in the field of Social Science and Social Geography and my topic is about intercultural competence development in young people. Feel free to ask me any questions - I am very passionate about this topic. I have a passion for writing and discovering truth. As Christian academics I believe we have a responsibility to understand and share God's truth with others.
Previously, I worked with Christian Mission Organisation Youth with a Mission (YWAM) where I have travelled the world working on both short and longer term development projects, training and teaching students, mission adventures with teens, and most recently worked with YWAM Medical ships in Papua New Guinea as the Community Engagement officer and Biblical Studies Leader. Throughout this course, my focus will be to use case examples from different areas in this field to help you identify what your work could look like in the future.
Personal Testimony:
I am passionate about people and my faith. For me, this has meant focusing on community engagement and social services in my professional and volunteering experience. As a Christian, my work has always meant more than just “work”. My beliefs inform my sense of justice, empathy and fairness. I'm passionate about teaching a range of topics in social sciences and my hope is to share my passion and enthusiasm with you.
It is hard to choose just one but this favourite Bible verse but this one in Micah inspires my personal and professional life.
Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
I also got married last year to an amazing man Michael. I have been study and working at CHC since 2012 and most of that time was know as Wendy Nelson! So if you here or see that name its me!
