Merie Burton

Sessional Lecturer, School of Social Science

I am a psychotherapist and relationship counsellor and I absolutely love my job.

My educational background consists of a Master of counselling majoring in couple's counselling and a Bachelor of Social Science (counselling). Part of my Master's degree was undertaking a research component on sexuality and spiritual growth in women. I plan on expanding this research and writing a book...it's a fascinating topic.

Bio and Personal Info/Interests:

I'm married to a beautiful man, Brad and we have four gorgeous children. We've also provided foster care for lots of children over the years. I work in private practice at Daisy Hill and I do some contracting and consulting for some schools, churches and other community groups. I love sessional lecturing at CHC because I'm passionate about helping upcoming counsellors as they venture into this meaningful and challenging role.

Likes and Dislikes:

I enjoy reading and learning, camping and socialising, singing and dancing, and I love living life in the moment. As well as my beautiful family, I'm pretty smitten by my little dog, Teddy.

I don't like cleaning and washing, boring meetings and hostile politics, and I'm not too crazy about tomatoes.
