Course Details Graduate Certificate in Practice Innovation

The Graduate Certificate in Practice Innovation is a pragmatic course designed to support educators and teams working in education to prepare, experiment, evaluate, and report on a workplace-based innovation project. One of its key features is the opportunity for workplaces to study as a group, enabling cohorts of educators within a shared context to collaborate on their innovation journey. You’ll be guided to develop a project relevant to your role and share your findings through analysis and reporting.

Career Outcomes

By doing this course and completing the facilitated innovation project, teachers will find they have developed knowledge and skills, and accompanying evidence of practice, to support Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher (HALT) certification from the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership.

Completion of the Graduate Certificate in Practice Innovation will give graduates, who also hold a recognised initial teacher education qualification, credits towards studying a Master of Education.

Admissions Criteria

Recent Secondary Education

Applicants with recent secondary education are not eligible for admission to this course.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) study

Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study are not eligible for admission to this course.

Higher Education study

Applicants with a recognised initial teacher education qualification and at least one year (full-time equivalent) of relevant teaching experience are eligible for admission to this course.

Work and life experience

Applicants with only industry experience, are not eligible for admission to this course.

English language proficiency

Applicants for whom English is not their first language must provide certified documentary evidence that their secondary schooling, or tertiary studies of at least one year, was conducted in the English language or they have satisfactory results in an acceptable English Language Proficiency examination (see table below). Results are to be no more than two years old as at the commencement of the course of study.

TOEFL (IBT) 90 (at least 16 in Listening, Reading; 21 in Writing; 18 in Speaking)

Complete online modules directly relating to each phase of your project.
Regularly collaborate with your project mentor to receive guidance and feedback.
Share your progress with others, including presenting at a symposium in the final phase of the project.
