Admissions Criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education are not eligible for admission to this course.
Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study are not eligible for admission to this course.
Applicants with a Bachelor degree (other than Education) with a GPA of at least 4.0 and a major study in at least one teaching area in the secondary school curriculum are eligible for admission to this course.
Whilst some courses recognise work and life experience as alternative prior learning to an ATAR or other perquisites, unfortunately for postgraduate courses like this one, that is not possible, as the undergraduate degree entry is also used to define the teaching area.

English language proficiency requirements apply to all domestic and overseas applicants for whom English is not their first language. The minimum English language proficiency requirements for entry to the Master of Teaching (Secondary) are as follows:

What to expect
School-based teaching placements create authentic learning experiences and are integral to shaping teaching practice.
The Professional Experience Program (PEP) consists of 85 days of supervised practicum undertaken in a range of schools. Placements are available in the Christian, state and Independent schooling sectors in both urban and regional settings. Students are required to hold a valid Blue Card in order to engage in PEP.

The Master of Teaching (Secondary) consist of 3 strands: Christian Education, Education Studies, and Curriculum, Learning and Teaching.In planning their courses, students must consult the Education Courses Guide for information regarding course rules and requirements, including unit prerequisite requirements.
LANTITE
Students must pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education students (LANTITE), as administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), to progress to the second year of the course (full-time equivalent).
