Recognition of prior learning is an assessment of your work experience and competencies which may not be a qualification, however is a competency in a discipline. This needs to be personally assessed with evidence such as a resume.
These pathways are assessed against the learning outcomes of CHC units within each course. Undergraduate qualifications may be used to gain credit into CHC undergraduate courses, for example a Diploma may enable credit into a CHC Diploma or Bachelor degree. A Bachelor degree cannot gain credit however into a Masters level qualification.
How Much Credit Might I Receive?
Generally, you can receive credit for up to 70% of the total credit points required in a CHC course, though this can vary slightly by specific course rules.
There are limits on how old previous studies can be for credit to be considered, and maximum durations allowed to complete a course when credit in granted. The Australian standards for Higher Education currency is 10 years. This means that if you did not complete a course or are seeking credit for individual units within a course you can only do so within the 10 year window which is calculated at the end point of completing the qualification.
