Course Details Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision (Pastoral)

The Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision (Pastoral) is a fully accredited course through St Marks Theological College at Charles Sturt run in partnership with CHC on the CHC campus.

This course is designed for coaches, mentors and supervisors in ministry, senior chaplains, team-leaders and anyone else with ministry experience wishing to enter private practice in pastoral supervision. Through this course current supervisors can upgrade their skills and knowledge and qualify for membership with professional supervision associations including the Australasian Association of Supervision (AAOS).

Career Outcomes

This is an accredited course with the Australiasian Association of Supervisors (AAOS) and will enable you to work as a Professional Supervisor either for an organisation or independently with your own private practice.

Admissions Criteria
I am an applicant with:

Recent Secondary Education

Applicants having recently finished secondary education are not eligible for admission to this course.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) study

Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study are not eligible for admission to this course.

Higher Education study

Applicants with a Bachelor degree in either Theology, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Management or equivalent are eligible for admission to this course.

Or, have at least five years professional experience within a helping profession and a recommendation from their employer, professional association, or ordaining body.

Work and life experience

Applicants with work and life experience, but not a higher education qualification are not eligible for admission to this course.

English language proficiency

Applicants for whom English is not their first language must provide certified documentary evidence that their secondary schooling, or tertiary studies of at least one year, was conducted in the English language or they have satisfactory results in an acceptable English Language Proficiency examination (see table below). Results are to be no more than two years old as at the commencement of the course of study.

PTE (Academic) 59 (at least 51 in all subtests)

TOEFL (PBT) 577

TOEFL (IBT) 90 (at least 16 in Listening, Reading; 21 in Writing; 18 in Speaking)

What to expect

You will learn how to be able to demonstrate current best practice in the fields of professional and pastoral supervision, including on issues of Australian law and practice, professional ethics, and around mandatory reporting requirements and critically reflect upon ethical decision making in the field.
