Admissions Criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education are not eligible for admission to this course.
Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study are not eligible for admission to this course.
Applicants with a Bachelor degree in any field are eligible for admission to this course.
Applicants with work and life experience may be eligible for admission. Please contact study@chc.edu.au to find out if you are eligible.

English language proficiency
Applicants for whom English is not their first language must provide certified documentary evidence that their secondary schooling, or tertiary studies of at least one year, was conducted in the English language or they have satisfactory results in an acceptable English Language Proficiency examination (see table below). Results are to be no more than two years old as at the commencement of the course of study.

What to expect
Students enrolled in the course will benefit from the School’s emphasis on student engagement and experiential learning. CHC values face-to-face teaching of counselling skills from lecturers with professional industry experience, while still offering flexible study options and top-quality online learning resources. QILT surveys for the years 2017-2019 reflect that 95.9% of CHC graduates from the School of Social Sciences had a positive overall experience (82.3% national average).

The Graduate Certificate in Counselling Studies consists of four foundational units designed to develop students’ knowledge and skills in the field of counselling.
